Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) today is one of the most popular, fastest growing and practical martial arts practiced; even outside of professional combat, BJJ is taught and used by various military and law-enforcement groups as an effective way to manage and subdue assailants without having to resort to weapons and striking. BJJ is a combat sport focused on grappling and ground fighting. BJJ established its roots when a Japanese Judo Master Mitsuyo Maeda moved to Brazil in the 1914 introduced the art to the Gracie family.
Grappling does not use punches and kicks, but instead focuses on gripping your opponent and taking him to the ground. The unique quality about practising BJJ is that it encourages endless creativity in approaching any sparring match. The rules and regulations in BJJ sparring encourage the practitioner to be a thinking fighter. BJJ FOR BEGINNERS
New students are encouraged to start in the beginners classes, to develop an understanding of the basic techniques and terminology such as the guard, base, sweep, and takedown. Our instructors focus on the important of establishing positional control, help beginners develop muscle memory through movement drills, and impact simple sweeps and joint lock and chokehold submissions.
This class is for: First-timers of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and all levels of white belts.
BJJ - ALL LEVELS
Students who attend this class would have been practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for a few months, and are ready to build on more technique variations and concept application to their foundational knowlege. This class will also involve sparring sessions.
